My writing is back on track. Dave begins his month of vacation next week. The cats are getting along. And I have recently reconnected with an old friend.
Over twenty years ago, back in my pen-palling days, I was matched with a young woman from Scotland. We developed a close friendship and we sent letters and gifts back and forth all the time. Occasionally we got to talk on the phone--now THAT was a treat!
And then we had a horrible falling-out, which was my fault. I apologized profusely, but she wouldn't accept my apologies. I had sent her photos, including some of my mother, who had passed away previously. My last contact with her, I requested she return my photos. When she didn't, I decided a clean break was best. I wished her well and moved on with my life.
Over the years, she wrote me at least once and called our house phone twice, but like I said, I prefer a clean break, and refused to reply. Her refusal to forgive me hurt me deeply, and I just wanted to forget about her.
Well, fast forward to last week. She tracked me down on Facebook! I spent last weekend considering blocking any further contact from her, but then Monday morning, I decided to at least respond to the private message she'd left me. Within SECONDS, she messaged me back, SO happy to hear from me! Later that morning we videochatted, and we have repaired our fractured friendship.
My friends are very important to me, and losing one is incredibly painful. I want to thank this lovely Scottish lass for not giving up on me and coming back into my life.
