I don't make them.
I used to, with the best of intentions. No more chocolate! No more coffee! No more wine! But of course life happens and you fall off the wagon pretty quickly and go ahead and have the chocolate or the coffee or the wine...
So then I thought, I'll try New MONTH Resolutions. But that didn't work either.
But despite the failure to maintain these well intended resolutions, I don't get discouraged anymore. In my OWN GOOD TIME, I am improving and progressing! Here are a few accomplishments of 2016;
*Lost almost 50 lbs all on my own!
*Learned to 5-strand braid my hair
*Reprinted my first 2 books
*Created and gave away several arm-knitted afghans
*Met (online) several more distant relatives
I know there are more but those are the ones coming to mind this morning.
So in 2017 I hope to :
*Utilize Ancestry.com for the duration of my 6-month membership, thus discovering MORE cousins and hopefully finding more interesting ancestors to write about!
A long time ago in a Reader's DIgest magazine, I remember reading a story about a woman who developed a daily formula for personal happiness. It had 5 components;
1. Do something for someone else
2. Do something for yourself
3. Do a physical exercise
4. Do a mental exercise
5. Say an original prayer
Years later, I have never forgotten those, and it seemed like a simple and doable formula. And instead of listing New Year's Resolutions, I think I'll stick to those 5 things listed above.
So here we go, people--hurling into a brand new year! Remember the Raid on Cochecho Goodreads Giveaway begins Jan 7!
