And I was content and figured I'd done enough writing, at least in the historical fiction genre because I'm afraid I will repeat myself and I don't want to be one of those formulaic writers who just spits out the same story, different settings and characters.
So then the Muses started whispering to me about an eccentric elderly widow who somehow transforms the lives of her dysfunctional neighbors through the piecing of a crazy quilt. Set in contemporary times, this story will dip a toe into fantasy, but not quite; I want to write it so that the reader thinks, "sure, circumstances could possibly happen that way.." while at the same time sensing that a little magic was underfoot.
