But the days are noticeably longer and I really can sense Spring in the air! Storm and Lily have enjoyed sitting in screened windows a few times, listening to birds and watching squirrels scurry across the yard.
Although Dave took up my herb garden last year, I might still do something with the window boxes (with these knees I can't kneel and garden anymore). The only potted plants I have outdoors are catnip (brought in some fresh leaves for the girls the other day, much to their delight!), peppermint, lavender and stinging nettles (they really are very nutritious!).
In exactly 1 month from today I will be 52--FIFTY TWO!!!! How does THAT happen?! In my mind, I am nowhere NEAR 52! But I don't really mind it. One of the most enjoyable benefits to aging is watching where my 17 nieces and nephews and 23 (I think) GREAT nieces and nephews go in their lives! We have a wedding to attend this October, which I am really looking forward to (haven't seen family in about 3 years so I'm way past due!). Nothing nourishes my soul more than getting together with my dear siblings and their families!
And speaking of family, more distant cousins emerge, and what a wonderfully diverse group we are, scattered all over the country! I need to start keeping better track of them because I can't remember who is on what side of the family! Would you believe it--4 years after the publication of Puritan Witch, I am STILL coming in contact with Eames cousins?! They number over 80 now! A few distant cousins have emerged from Raid on Cochecho (and some even overlap), and I'm happy to claim them all as family!
So I anticipate the arrival of Springtime with happy anticipation, ready to shake off the dulling dreariness of Winter and get busy being more creative!
Happy (almost) Spring!
